Igor V.Benkin
Togliatti
Igor Benkin was born in Togliatti, Russia
in March, 1958. His official sporting status is master
of sports, international class. He has been climbing mountains since
1975; 3 times summited 7,000m peaks of former USSR. During the Everest
expedition (1992) he ascended to 8,000m. Benkin graduated from Togliatti
Polytechnical Institute, Electrotechnical Department. He was a photo and
video information bureau chief at VAZ. Igor Benkin was killed while descending
from K2 summit on the night of August 15, 1996. |
